Multimedia Program for Learning
Cognitive Therapy Principles: This is a
five session computer-based training program that introduces, demonstrates,
and assists the practice of psychological principles and strategies.
It is designed for individuals 18 years and older currently seeing
a therapist. The goal of the program is to help clients gain an
understanding of how thoughts and behaviors influence mood, and
to provide clients with specific techniques and skills that have
been demonstrated to help relieve moods such as depression, anxiety,
frustration, and anger. Skills taught include: 1) Identifying and
understanding the causes and "triggers" of depressive
moods and anxiety, 2) change strategies for pessimism and self-defeating
thinking, 3) development of more accurate and optimistic "information
processing," 4) assertion and action oriented skills, and 5)
self-calming and accepting "internal dialogue." Contact
